Session 1: Beginning with the Grid
Introduction to Kasuti, understanding counted thread/grid logic, materials and setup, and first simple patterns.
Session 2: Learning the Stitches
Foundational Kasuti stitches, rhythm, counting, and symmetry. Practicing repetition.
Session 3: Reading Patterns
How to “read” a Kasuti pattern, translating from graph to fabric, and working with simple motifs.
Session 4: From Pattern to Form
Combining motifs, scale and spacing, and beginning a small composition.
Session 5: Translation and Interpretation
Moving beyond traditional motifs, translating simple images/forms into grid-based patterns, and thinking of embroidery as “drawing with thread.”
Session 6: Your Own Piece
Developing a small final work, slowing down, refining, sharing and reflection.
